​Cake Smash

This session is exactly as it sounds... Smashing up a Cake!

Traditionally for first birthdays, these sessions are fun for the whole family!  And sometimes the results will surprise you.  The shy kids often jump right into smashing up the cake and the 'out there' kids may hold back and seem unsure.  No matter which way it goes, there is always good photos!   

I recommend parents bring along 2 sets of clothes for the birthday child... 1) A 'good set' so I can take some beautiful keepsake portraits of your little one looking at their best before the mess and 2) A cake smash outfit to get messy in.  The options are endless with some choosing to smash the cake in tutu/bloomers, tie & party hat.  While others opt for jeans or dress clothes for their little one to trash!  A word of warning to all parents:  Be prepared to get your hands dirty.  More often than not, kids wait for their parents to take the lead... lol!  I have an apron and plenty of towels on hand if you end up getting involved!  Siblings can play a great role with this too.  After some individual photos of the birthday child, siblings are encouraged to get in there and help out.  

At the end of the mess, you are welcome to make use of my bathroom for clean up.  If requested, I will also take some bath photos of your little one.  These portraits are usually my favourites of the session.  There is just something innocent and magical about a toddler in a bath.  The splashes and the giggles are so gorgeous!

I provide backdrop and colour themed decorations & balloons.  Cake and outfit are BYO.  If you have something different in mind, I am more than happy to work with you on a special themed cake smash but please be aware any additional unique props will need to be purchased by the client. 

On booking, you receive an information sheet with a heap of helpful hints and tips.
